Affiliation of Crystal Healing Organisations (ACHO)

ACHO (the association) was formed in 1988 by a group of crystal healing organisations to promote training and competence in crystal healing therapy and to act as part of a nationally recognised representative body for crystal healing.

Alexander Technique International (ATI)

The Alexander Technique is a world-wide organisation of teachers, students and friends of the Alexander Technique, created to promote and advance the work begun by F. Matthias Alexander. ATI embraces the diversity of the international Alexander Technique community and is working to promote international dialogue.

Aromatherapy and Allied Practitioner’s Association (AAPA)

The AAPA was formed in 1994 by a small group of therapists who saw the need for an aromatherapy association which was non profit making and dedicated to the development of the profession & support of therapists. Its officers and staff are all qualified therapists which ensures that the interests of therapists are represented at all times.

Association of Energy Therapists (AET)

The Association of Energy Therapists aims to be a quality contact point for members of the public seeking treatment from well trained experienced practitioners in the rapidly emerging energy therapies. The Association seeks to encourage a collegial atmosphere in which our practitioners of different energy therapies learn from and enrich one another, in order to produce the highest quality of integrated Energy treatments for the public.

Association of Holistic Biodynamic Massage Therapists (AHBMT)

Founded in 1992, the Association of Holistic Biodynamic Massage Therapists embraces several selective treatments already proven in various disciplines of healthcare. Together, these beneficial practices enable a qualified therapist to fine-tune individual sessions in harmony with the body’s natural ability to restore a healthy flow of energy.

Association of Light Touch Therapists (ALTT)

The Association of Light Touch Therapists (ALTT) was formed in 1988 to promote therapies which are “light touch” in that while they involve physical contact between the client and the therapist – thus providing touch – contact is no heavier than one would use to rub an eyeball, justifying the term light. Using light touch techniques to work with the subtle energy fields of the body, the therapies are non-invasive, drug-free and involve little or no manipulation.

The Association of Reflexology will ensure that your qualifications are recognised and regulated through their excellent training programs.

Body Stress Release Association (BSRA)

Body Stress Release was pioneered by South Africans, Gail and Ewald Meggersee, in the early 1980s. There are nearly 200 Body Stress Release practitioners worldwide, primarily in South Africa, but with over 20 in the UK. BSR practitioners are also located in 15 countries around the world. Body Stress Release, or BSR, is a unique complementary health technique which assists the body in restoring its in-built ability to heal and maintain itself.

Bowen Therapists European Register (BTER)

The Bowen Therapists’ European Register (BTER) is an independent, professional association of Bowen Therapy practitioners. BTER maintains a list of qualified Bowen practitioners for the general public. Full members are accredited therapists with certificates in Anatomy & Physiology and First Aid.

British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB)

The Board was established in 1989 by the acupuncture professional associations and the colleges of acupuncture. We adopted a system of accreditation (course approval) developed in the USA and have since added to this and undertaken major revisions.

British Association of Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (BABTAC)

BABTAC has been the professional face of beauty and holistic therapy for over 30 years. It is the premier UK association for beauticians and therapists and is widely recognised as one of the longest standing and most influential bodies for the industry.

British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy (BANT)

BANT was set up as a Company Limited by Guarantee in February 1997. It is a non-profit organisation funded neither by pharmaceutical, agrochemical or government agencies but by member subscriptions and donations. BANT’s mission is to act as a professional body for nutritional therapy practitioners and those working in the wider application of nutritional science.

British Chiropody and Podiatry Association (BCPA)

The British Chiropody and Podiatry Association is the largest body for qualified chiropodists in the United Kingdom, established late 1959, in conjunction with the Open College of Podiatry (formerly The SAME Institute) which was established in 1919.

British Chiropractic Association (BCA)

The British Chiropractic Association (BCA), founded in 1925, represents over 50% of UK chiropractors. The BCA aims to promote, encourage and maintain high standards of conduct, practice, education and training within the profession in the UK.

British Complementary Therapies Council for Voluntary Self Regulation (BCTC)

The BCTC, conceived by the long-established British Complementary Medicine Association, and developed by dedicated complementary practitioners, is run by a Voluntary Council.

British Flower and Vibrational Essence Association (BM BFVEA)

British Flower and Vibrational Essence Association is a professional organisation and has been established for over 10 years. Our membership consists of practitioners and tutors of flower essence therapy and we aim to support and serve their best interests as well as providing an information resource for the general public.

British Herbal Medicine Association (BHMA)

The British Herbal Medicine Association (BHMA) was founded in 1964 to advance the science and practice of herbal medicine in the United Kingdom and to ensure its continued statutory recognition at a time when all medicines were becoming subject to greater regulatory control.

British Homeopathy Association (BHA)

This organisation is able to provides a list of medically qualified homeopathic practitioners, all of whom are members of the Faculty of Homeopathy. Produces a quarterly magazine – anyone interested in homeopathy can become a friend of the BHA.

British International Spa Association (BISA)

BISA is the British International Spa Association, a non-profit association set up in 1998 by a group of professionals within the beauty, spa and education fields with a common aim – to promote minimum standards of quality and service within the spa industry, and to improve and promote education for spa therapists.

British Manual Lymph Drainage Association (BMLDA)

Manual Lymph Drainage has been practiced in Great Britain for over 35 years and the British MLD Association is a leader in the field of Lymph Drainage in the UK and is affiliated to the Institute of Complementary Medicine.

British Medical Acupuncture Society (BMAS)

Promotes the use of acupuncture as a therapy following orthodox medical diagnosis by suitably trained practitioners. It seeks to enhance the education and training of suitably qualified practitioners, and to promote high standards of working practices in acupuncture among such practitioners, by means of tests, examinations, and accreditation procedures.

British Osteopathic Association (BOA)

By law, osteopaths must register with the General Osteopathic Council (GosC). It is an offence for anyone to call themselves an osteopath if they are not registered. To qualify, an osteopath must study for four to five years for an undergraduate degree.

British Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists (BSCH)

The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) is a national professional body whose aim is to promote and assure high standards in the practice of hypnotherapy. Registration demands good quality training, ethical practice and adherence to our code of conduct.

British Thought Field Therapy Association (BTFTA)

The British Thought Field Therapy Association was established in the UK in 1996, around 800 people have followed Algorithm or Diagnostic Training, and increasing numbers of senior Psychologists, Doctors and Consultants are discovering TFT’s remarkable ability to resolve even complex issues in a fraction of the time taken by conventional approaches.

British Wheel of Yoga (BWY)

The British Wheel of Yoga is a registered charity and is the largest yoga organisation in the country, running for 40 years. It is members-based and organised into 11 regions. BWY is recognised by the Central Council for Physical Recreation (CCPR) and Sport England as the national Governing Body for Yoga.

Buteyko Breathing Association (BBA)

Buteyko (pronounced Bu-tay-ko) is most commonly used as a treatment for those with asthma and other breathing disorders.

Complementary Therapies Association (CthA)

Complementary Therapies Association (CthA) is a professional organisation that represents all complementary and alternative medicine therapists. CthA accepts over 25 complementary and alternative medicine therapies.

Confederation of International Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology (CIBTAC)

CIBTAC has been established for almost 30 years as an international examination board, specialising in awarding diplomas in beauty, complementary therapies and well-being. CIBTAC has grown rapidly during those years, expanding its portfolio from traditional beauty treatments into spa, well-being, diet and nutrition, sports therapy and complementary therapy courses.
